Dr. Klinghardt studied medicine & psychology in Freiburg, Germany, completing his PhD on the involvement of the autonomic nervous system in autoimmune disorders. Early in his career he became interested in the sequelae of chronic toxicity (especially lead, mercury, environmental pollutants & electromagnetic fields) for the course of illness.
While working in India he encountered Eastern concepts of disease etiology & blended them with his Western training. This laid the foundation for his 5-level system of Integrative Medicine. In the US he spent three years as a full-time emergency physician before becoming Medical Director of the Santa Fe Pain Centre.
Increasingly aware of the limitations of conventional medicine when dealing with chronic conditions, he trained in Ericksonian hypnotherapy and began to include body-oriented psychotherapeutic & counseling approaches in his work, along with neural therapy, mesotherapy injection techniques & applied psychoneurobiology.
Dr. Klinghardt has contributed significantly to the understanding of metal toxicity & its connection with chronic infections, illness & pain. He has been instrumental in advancing various fields within biological medicine – non-invasive pain management, injection techniques for pain & orthopedic dysfunction, anti-aging medicine, toxicology, pediatrics (neuro-developmental disorders), energy psychology, biological dentistry, & others.
He has also developed Autonomic Response Testing, a comprehensive diagnostic system that has helped many practitioners to become accomplished holistic physicians.
He founded Sophia Health Institute in 2012, and is actively involved in patient care at his clinic.
Born and raised in New York, Dr. Deborah L’Estrange is a board-certified Doctor of Chiropractic. She completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology in 1989. Her passion for alternative approaches to healing led her to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Life Chiropractic University in 1995.
Dr. L’Estrange has over 25 years of experience in the alternative health field working as a holistic practitioner. Over that time, she has studied and utilized muscle testing to evaluate patients and determine the best course of treatment.
Dr. Deb has a deep respect for the holistic approach to health care which takes into account the emotional, structural, and nutritional aspects of health. Her particular mix of study and experience has culminated in a powerful ability to provide patient care. She honors each patient on their personal journey to wellness while taking time to learn about them and educate them so they can feel confident in making informed decisions for their own health.
For more than a decade, she has worked with the Klinghardt Academy assisting other practitioners to become proficient in Autonomic Response Testing (ART) and Applied Psycho-Neurobiology (APN). Before being invited to join the team at Sophia Health, Dr. Deb had worked in Pennsylvania as a solo practitioner as well as alongside her longtime mentor Dr. Marc Schwartz.
Dr. Deb brings her own personal experience with chronic illness to Sophia Health patients. In 1999, Dr. L’Estrange was involved in an automobile accident which led to a rare disorder called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) AKA Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). Considered un-curable she looked at her condition as a chance to learn more about what alternative therapies existed. This led her to train extensively with pioneers of the alternative health field such as, Dr. George Goodheart, the founder of Applied Kinesiology; Dr. Morter, Bioenergetic Synchronization Technique; Dr. Dick Versandaal, the creator of Contact Reflex Analysis; Dr. John Brimhall, the originator of the Six Steps to Wellness program, and Dr. Deitrich Klinghardt, Autonomic Response Testing and Psycho-kinesiology.
Although this time in her life was challenging, she knows that the journey gave her an opportunity to become a more understanding, caring healthcare provider. She learned first-hand that the combination of emotional, and physical healing can make the impossible a reality.

Dr. Allison Grefsrud is a naturopathic physician who completed her medical education at Bastyr University, in addition to undergraduate studies in health science at Whitworth University. With particular interests in fertility and chronic illness, she enjoys utilizing homeopathy and vitalistic medicine to bring the body-mind-spirit back into a state of health.
Outside of work, Dr. Allison’s happy place is hiking in the mountains with her chihuahua.
My name is Dr. Sheetal Woods, I am a licensed Naturopathic Physician in the state of Washington. I received my Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Bachelor of Science in Biology from UCLA. I have always been passionate about science, but I am especially passionate about the struggles we as human beings face that become obstacles to achieving health and wellness. Over the years I battled with my weight as well as a debilitating digestive disorder, Ulcerative Colitis. Through my education at Bastyr University, a pioneer institution in the natural medicine field here in Washington as well as through my personal healing process, I learned how to guide people through the difficult journey of healing the body, mind and spirit. Our bodies are amazing and extremely resilient, once we are able to remove the obstacles to cure we can achieve optimal health.
During my Doctoral studies, I studied contemporary western medicine as well as Ayurveda, traditional Chinese Medicine, European nature cure, homeopathy and western herbalism. I am also a certified Ayurvedic Therapist. Over the years I have come to focus on Autoimmune disease, Gastrointestinal disorders (IBD, IBS, etc), Chronic disease, Women's health and Hormonal disorders/imbalances. I practice yoga therapy and Craniosacral therapy to utilize the body’s innate ability to heal itself, and I am huge proponent of community health and education. Laura Camper is an infusion Nurse who joined the team at Sophia in 2022. She received her bachelor’s degree in the science of nursing at the University of Washington. After graduating she worked in multiple nursing disciplines to include, Ob/GYN, Home health care, Veterans administration & Neurology. Prior to nursing Laura was a surgical technician for over 17 years. Laura is also a veteran of the US air force.
She brings her faith in God and love for the human body and spirit to help people heal naturally.
Grace Forster received her bachelor's degree in the science of nursing from Azusa Pacific University in southern California. After graduating, she moved back home to Washington and worked as a labor/delivery and postpartum nurse where her passion for the body's natural processes grew. Her time spent as a bedside nurse taught Grace the value of educating yourself about what you put in and on your body.
Grace has a passion for helping people achieve their health goals with a holistic approach. She joined the team at Sophia in 2022 with the hopes of learning more about natural ways to heal the body. She brings her nursing skills and her faith in Jesus with her to the IV room.
Kim Dines brings with her a range of tools to help your body recover. She looks at the body as a whole and finds the areas that need attention - from helping to alleviate jaw pain to help with sinus issues and in addition, getting the body moving with more freedom.
She works with Visceral Manipulation to help release blocked energy from scar areas that can prevent optimal health.
Her Integrative Manual therapy works helps to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system and can be supportive in boosting immunities, reducing anxiety & headaches. It can also offer assistance with digestive disorders, detoxification, insomnia related stress, and soft tissue strains.
Kim Todd is a health educator & a master yoga teacher,
She is a colon hydrotherapist & detox specialist & has been offering therapies & coaching at Sophia under the direction of Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt for almost a decade.
She helped Dr. Klinghardt create the Sophia Liver Love online liver cleansing program & has coached 1000’s of individuals through the fine art of liver cleansing over the last 15 years.
She loves to offer teachings of positive lifestyle changes & self care practices around cleansing & detoxification & rebuilding through superfoods & yoga to support the upgrade of self on all levels of the being.
She has Co created many cleansing & yoga retreats over the past 25 years.
Nava grew up on the back of a horse where she acquired a mindful presence and hands that listen. Originally an inventor, designer, and crafter of inanimate objects and experiences, she grew inspired to elevate the potential of our living form. In stride, she bolstered her University of Michigan BFA with LMT licensure. Nava first specialized in a uniquely gentle and elegant form of fascial release and structural decompression and then gained certification in The Trager® Approach through a pioneering intensive program led by expert instructors who trained directly with Dr. Milton Trager. She merges her studies and continues to deepen her understanding by training with the world’s current masters. As a result of it all, Nava approaches the intelligence of being with reverence and offers an ever-evolving and exceptional work of healing art.
Nava has taught and has served as Vice President of Trager® Northwest and a Board Member of the Trager® Foundation. Beyond bodywork, she lives an adventurous, peaceful life in the mountains with her beloved Mexican mutts.
Nina Couch has worked at Sophia Health Institute since June 2019, and works in multiple departments within the clinic. In addition to being Dr. L’Estrange’s assistant, Nina works as a clinical support coordinator and assists the front office with day-to-day tasks. Having both a personal and familial connection with Lyme and other chronic illnesses, she is very passionate about the medicine being practiced within Sophia Health Institute. Nina is proud to be part of a highly competent and compassionate team, and is honored to be a part of every patient’s health journey!
